Monday October 29, 2001

Mondays, like everything else in this world, is simply a matter of statistics. Every now and then, you get a winner...

One: Landon stopped acting like a parrot today. For the last three months, every time you said anything to him, he "parroted" it back. Suddenly, late last night, he started engaging in dynamic conversation. You know... like you and I would have. Er. Most of the time...

Two: Danielle stopped talking back. It might have something to do with the slap-up-the-side-of-the-head I gave her late last night, but it might also have something to do with the moon or Mecca. If you have young children, you'll understand. If you don't, it's not important.

Three: The weather warmed about 10 degrees today. Which evened the score for the last week. Tonight, it's a balmy 2C and the winds are calm. I'll take what I can get after last week...

I didn't take on Linux today -- I thought it best to count my blessings while I had some.

Halloween. And the first full moon on this date in 46 years. Mmmm. So far, it's pretty quiet around our neighborhood, but I guess it's still early yet.

Landon was Superrmaann!! (which is about how he says it; arms in the air, making muscles of course...); Danielle was a princess (Natch). A good time was had by all. On a somber note, this is the first year I felt compelled to go through all their candy and check to ensure the wrappers were still intact, etc. I suppose it's not a bad idea on general principle, but I never felt it necessary -- until now. Perhaps I've just contracted a mild dose of paranoia from some of my southern neighbors -- or perhaps we all do indeed live in a "new and different world".

It's a balmy evening (7C) and dry. Great for the kids, although us adults aren't complaining...

Not much else to report. Two days of head's-down editing. I'm beat. I think I'll go raid the kid's candy box and cuddle up with my wife for an hour or so. Be well.
